Netscape Mail Quick Start

A. Starting Netscape Email.

  1. Choose Window, check Netscape Mail from the Netscape Browser menu bar.
  2. Enter you password if requested.

B. Sending Email

  1. Double-click the [To: Mail] button located on the Tool Bar or choose File, check New Mail Message from the menu bar (Ctrl+M).
  2. In the Mail To: field, type the email address of the person to receive your message.
  3. Press TAB twice to move to the Subject field and type a subject for your email.
  4. Press TAB and type your message in the space provided.
  5. Double click on the [Send] button on the Message Composition Tool Bar to send the message.

C. Reading Email

  1. Double click on the [Get Mail] button on the tool bar or Choose File, Check Get New Mail from the menu bar. (Ctrl+T)
  2. To read a message, click on the desired message in the message list presented in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

D. Printing Email

  1. Select the message to be printed from the message list in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Click on the [Print] button on the tool bar or choose File, Print from the menu bar. (Ctrl+P)

E. Attaching a file to a document

  1. Create a new message without sending it (see A. above).
  2. Click on the [Attachment] button or choose File, Attach File from the Message Composition menu bar.
  3. Click on the [Attach File] button.
  4. From the File Open dialog box, select the file to attach.
  5. Select additional files or click on the [OK] button when finished.
  6. Click on the [Send] button on the menu bar to send the message.

F. Creating new mailboxes

  1. Select F, New Folder from the menu bar.
  2. Type the name of the new mailbox.
  3. Click on the [OK] button.

G. Moving messages into folders

  1. Select the message to be moved or copied from the message list in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Choose Message, Move from the menu bar and select the mailbox to receive the message.

H. Creating Nicknames

  1. Select Window, Address Book from the menu bar.
  2. Select Item, Add User.
  3. Enter the nickname, press TAB and enter a fullname.
  4. Press TAB and type in the email address for the nickname.
  5. Type in any comments you wish to include in the Description field.
  6. Click on the [OK] button.
  7. Select File, Close from the menu bar.
