Greeting from the Expert
Welcome to "Ask an Expert". I will be happy to exchange ideas and to answer or
find answers to questions about physical factors related to soybean grading factors
or soybean storage, handling or drying in Midwest climates. My appointment is
not in extension, but rather in teaching and research. Through this forum of
exchange, I hope to learn from you as well.

Research Experience:
Dr. Paulsen's research interests have concentrated in the area of corn, soybean
and grain quality. His published work includes methods for detecting physical
quality characteristics of soybeans and corn, determining quality loss and
temperature changes during export for shipments of grain, grain damage during
combine harvesting, seedcoat dye tests, machine vision for detection of fungal
damage in soybeans, and near-infrared spectroscopy for detecting extractable
starch in corn. His teaching has centered on courses dealing with Grain drying,
handling and storage.
